Christ has secured this for us in the cross, pronounced even our weakest efforts to give thanks to God as worthy by triumphing over death, and receives our thanksgiving and praise as he sits enthroned at the right hand of God. This is our confidence to approach the Father and give Him our thanks.

In the latest episode of Appalachian Anglican, a podcast presented by Church of the Ascension in Kearneysville, WV, listeners get to hear the story of a church planter in this Diocese. No two church planting stories are alike, and this one is an amazing tribute to God’s faithful provision.

The Decade of Discipleship, Evangelism and Missions is an ongoing activity of the Gafcon Movement. Recently in North Carolina, people from across ACNA gathered for training in Church Planting, so that as the gospel is proclaimed to the nations, churches can be planted and Christ glorified

With a deep desire to support the work of God's kingdom, Rev. Woodson and Fr. Morgan are excited to announce that we have hammered out the final details for sharing space that we have been prayerfully working on for the last several months. This will allow Corpus Christi Anglican Church to worship in the chapel at the Springfield United Methodist Church.

But what happens when life is disappointing and we experience loss and trials? Do we think that God is good and faithful even in the midst of that? Can we trust that God has a plan to redeem the awful stuff in our lives?

So, how should Christians respond to the rising popularity of the Platinum Rule? Obviously, I don’t think we want to say that Jesus’ words can be improved upon. How can we “honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks [us] for a reason for the hope that is in [us]?” (1 Peter 3:15)

My earliest memory is of Anglican liturgy. As a five-year-old, I was captivated by the way people closed their eyes with their hands lifted as they prayed “Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts,” how they raised their voices in agreement with lectionary readings, how their heads bowed in confession, and how they knelt humbly during the Lord’s Prayer.

It has been so encouraging to hear stories from people in the congregation about how God has worked in them through something they heard, or the experience of partaking of Christ in the Eucharist (even those who would not yet consider themselves Anglican!).

When I look back and see the church plants I have been involved in over the past almost forty years, I am amazed. Being on the Great Commission Committee for twelve years means that I have gotten to hear the stories behind other church plants as well, but there’s a beginning to every story.

Michelle Chase, a leader of Love Baltimore (previously Apostles in the City), wants to see Baltimore transformed by the love of Christ. Michelle had a vision of a happy home where kids in Belair-Edison, Baltimore could find a safe place after school and throughout the summer months.

Known as the Vision for 50, this plan focuses diocesan resources on planting churches that will plant daughter churches on a regular basis.

This was our first Holy Week as a new church plant and we had the joy and privilege of joining with our friends at All Saints' Church to celebrate the Triduum jointly. As I have been thinking back to a few of the highlights of that week, there are three that come to mind.

When the pandemic first started in March 2020, Korean Anglican (Lutherville, MD) uploaded a PowerPoint version of the service on YouTube so people could follow along with the virtual service on YouTube. Before this point, our congregation only met in person at Resurrection Anglican in Luthersville with very little online presence. Almost immediately, several fellow Anglicans in other states and in Korea began watching the sermons.

A year of quarantine has only increased the creativity of children, youth, and family ministries. It is amazing to see how churches in the Diocese are encouraging all ages to draw closer to the Lord during Lent, even while apart.

In February, Tori (my wife)i and I were the self-proclaimed "burrito-bandits", delivering burritos and desserts to students as we race across campus. It's been so fun!

And now it is my great joy to announce to you that we have called the Rev. Tuck Bartholomew as our new Canon for Church Planting.

In this so-aptly-named “Covidtide” season, meeting new people is difficult. It seems to predominantly occur through neighborhood friendships or online discovery, which is difficult to target geographically. All the third spaces (e.g. pubs, coffee shops, etc.) just aren’t there in the way they were a year ago,…
