A Multi-Generational Pentecost Service
Incarnation Anglican Church (Arlington, VA) conducted a Pentecost service that engaged all generations through intentional worship.
During the reading, as the passage mentioned the “mighty rushing wind,” paper airplanes were released from the balcony.
Preschoolers waved ribbon streamers that represented the “tongues of fire” during the gospel procession.
A candle-lighting ceremony during the Prayers of the People (POTP) represented the sevenfold gifts of the Spirit as described in Isaiah 11.
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
