About Us
The Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic (DOMA) is a regional diocese of the Anglican Church in North America that exists to support clergy and congregations so they flourish in worship, formation, and mission.

Bishop Chris Warner
Bishop Chris Warner leads our diocese with a simple calling: to help people come alive in Christ and grow as disciples who make disciples of others. He has served as Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic since 2022.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE MARK
Our Seal
We worked with Journey Group of Charlottesville, VA to develop a new logo and seal for the Diocese. We hope it captures something of our roots, the three streams of the Anglican tradition (Scripture, Sacrament, and Spirit), along with our desire that clergy and congregations flourish as we engage our region with the gospel of Jesus.
We've always referred to ourselves as DOMA, so we decided to formally acknowledge the acronym that describes our heart so well. While our seal is a formal, traditional emblem used to authenticate official documents and other acts of the Diocese, the logo serves as the graphic symbol of our Diocese.
Many of you know Anglicans have a rich practice of turning almost anything into an acronym! It's a little funny at times, but as we talked about our own story, one of our designers reminded us that DOMA is also related to an actual word: in Latin, doma means "house," "dwelling," or "roof," sharing its root with the more familiar domus, "home." As a diocese, our goal is to be a home built on the love of Christ, as expressed through our Anglican tradition and missional service to our neighbors.

Our Churches
The Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic is made up of 41 congregations, missions, and mission fellowships across Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, eastern West Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina, with several more in formation. Each church is united by a shared commitment to worship and discipleship across our region.
OVERSIGHT & SUPPORT
Our Committees
We are grateful for the time, gifts, and service that both laypeople and clergy of the Diocese offer through our various committees. Committees are formed and staffed in different ways: some members are elected, some are appointed, and others serve as volunteers.

The Anglican Church in North America unites 134,000 Anglicans in 1,062 congregations across the United States, Canada, and Mexico into a single Church. On April 16, 2009 it was recognized as a province of the global Anglican Communion, by the Primates of the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans.

Our Annual Gathering
The Synod is the legislative body of the diocese, but Synod is more than just “business.” It’s a joy-filled opportunity to gather as a diocese for worship and fellowship and spiritual growth. There is always great music, Bible teaching and breakout sessions on topics central to our churches’ ministries and mission.

Our Governing Documents
The Diocese is guided and governed by a set of foundational documents that provide the framework for our shared life, ministry, and leadership. These include the Fundamental Declarations of the Province, the Constitution & Canons of the Diocese and of the ACNA.
