What does that mean when we face dementia, either in someone we love, or in our own lives?  Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly will be asking that question together on Saturday March 2 as we begin our congregational retreat:  “With All your Mind – Dementia and Christian Hope.”

After worshipping with Truro, Fairfax, VA, on Sunday, Jan. 28, Epiphany Anglican Church in Chantilly, VA was honored to host Dr. Aaron Mushengyezi, and his wife, Patience, February 1-4.

Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA recently organized caroling teams to visit parishioners residing in assisted living facilities and those who are home-bound.

This year, Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly VA tried something new. They held a pet blessing in recognition of St. Francis’ day in early October. But instead of holding it at church and expecting people to come to them, they set up in the front yard of the house of an adventurous Epiphany family and got to bless pets and meet neighbors as people took their animals out for their morning walks.

How do we rebuild our relationships with each other after two years of pandemic separations?

The Rev. Peter Frank, Rector of Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA, offered the invocation at the Memorial Day parade in downtown DC.

Hunger and thirst are a common metaphor in the Bible. For instance, turn to Psalm 42:12, “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” Are you in touch with what your soul really wants? Do you have words for yearning in your soul?

On Friday, Nov. 19, the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic’s postulants gathered with Bishop John and members of the Examining Chaplains at The Falls Church Anglican for a half-day practicum aimed at developing their skills as leaders of Anglican worship.

If church attendance is so good for us physically and spiritually, why is it so hard for us sometimes (even without a pandemic)? Well, both Christian and secular culture have been on a decades long quest for the benefits of church without the commitments that go with it.

But what happens when life is disappointing and we experience loss and trials? Do we think that God is good and faithful even in the midst of that? Can we trust that God has a plan to redeem the awful stuff in our lives?

On Sunday, Sept 12, Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly, VA started a new tradition with a fall kick-off event that included lunch, tents, bounce-houses, and introductions to 22 of the church’s ministries.

Can you imagine praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, visiting the oasis of En Gedi where David hid from Saul, or walking in the hills along the Sea of Galilee where Jesus taught? We will be doing all of these things and much more as part of Epiphany's pilgrimage to the Holy Land February 14-24 next year.

When I look back and see the church plants I have been involved in over the past almost forty years, I am amazed. Being on the Great Commission Committee for twelve years means that I have gotten to hear the stories behind other church plants as well, but there’s a beginning to every story.

I understand your mileage may vary significantly when it comes to your appreciation of the hordes of loud, red-eyed, bugs that are frantically living their last few weeks of their long lifespan in our neighborhoods. That said, there is so much about these insects that is miraculous.

Fourteen couples from Church of the Epiphany in Chantilly spent time together on Saturday, February 6, on Zoom to swap stories from their weddings and try their mettle in a romantically-themed trivia contest.
