Relief: Venezuela Earthquake
On the evening of Wednesday, June 24, two earthquakes struck Venezuela.
An initial 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck at 6:04pm local time 100 miles outside of the capital city of Caracas was followed by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, only 39 seconds later. This second earthquake was the strongest in Venezuela for over a century.
Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF) is connecting with church partners on the ground in order to quickly mobilize to support earthquake-affected families and communities. This will include supporting people with emergency food, water and shelter in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, as well as supporting other needs for early recovery in the weeks that follow–helping people know that they are not alone.

Almighty God, by your Word you laid the foundations of the earth, set the bounds of the sea, and still the wind and waves. Surround those in Turkey and Syria with your grace and peace, and preserve those through the aftermath of the earthquakes. By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen, strengthen those who work to rescue or rebuild, and fill us with the hope of your new creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
