Immanuel Prayer Training

by Clancy Nixon

At our DOMA clergy-spouse retreat last summer, our Bishop Chris Warner invited author Michael Hendricks (his book is The Other Half of Church, co-authored by Jim Wilder) to teach us on the Immanuel Lifestyle, Immanuel Inner Healing prayer, and the Life Model.   We learned some insights that the new neuroscience sheds on our ability to change.  It turns out that positive change happens much better when we activate both our left and right brains.  We got a taste of connecting with Jesus through a new way of praying for many of us.  I was delighted at the topic chosen, for it’s been close to my heart for 20 years, and I’ve trained many people in this prayer approach.

In a recent conversation I had with Bishop Chris, he gave his encouragement that anyone who wants to follow up from that retreat and learn more, as well as those who would like to explore it, to take the Zoom class that I’m leading, starting Tuesday evening, January 27.

God desires not only to save and teach you, but to sanctify you and lead you into a steady rhythm of joy, peace, and fruitful ministry. This Immanuel Inner Healing Prayer Training introduces a simple, thoroughly biblical approach to prayer that helps you hear God’s still, gentle voice and cultivate a conversational relationship with him. You will learn to invite Jesus into painful memories for healing and to facilitate this prayer ministry for others.

Our text will be The Immanuel Approach by Dr. Karl Lehman. It is simple, transferable, and thoroughly Biblical. It uses ancient prayer practices (practicing the presence of God, gratitude, and listening) and includes insights from modern neuroscience.
