From Lutherville to Nogales

In July, fifteen students and leaders from Church of the Resurrection in Lutherville, MD, traveled to Nogales, Mexico for a week. They partnered with a local ministry called Cuirim House to serve the surrounding community. Cuirim House was founded in 2003 by Brian and Kirsten Donohue, who were responding to God’s call to help the poor and marginalized. Much of Brian’s vision was inspired by the ancient Irish monastic tradition – being a visible ambassador of Christ through loving service. Similarly, the pace of Cuirim is a modern-day interpretation of monastic life, with the rhythms of each day centered around community, worship, and service. While in Nogales, the team from Res worked on building projects through tasks such as cementing, building tire walls, leveling, and painting. They also helped out with a vacation bible school, a summer carnival, and enjoyed athletic games with local children and families, all while living out and sharing the gospel.
