Anglicans for Life Prayer Calendar
by Georgette Forney
Hello and Happy 2026! I’m curious, have you ever wanted to see into the future to know what would happen? There have been times when I wished God would have given me foreknowledge before an event happened, so I would have responded with more grace and mercy, and less drama – and angst! But I have always believed that while prophecy is still possible and important to pay attention to – knowing the future is best entrusted to God’s will and sovereignty.
I do believe it is important to begin each new year thanking God for the year we just experienced (2025) and praying for the one we are starting (2026). A dear friend and I used to take a long walk on New Year’s Day, just to spend it praying for the new year. I hope some of you will consider doing that this year. And in fact, I have written a prayer to close out this year and another to help begin the New Year…
New Year's Eve Prayer: Lord, as we come to the end of 2025, we are grateful for Your faithfulness lived out in our lives every day. We praise You for the guidance and wisdom You provided, and for the many times we took the wrong path or made a bad choice, we humbly repent. May our memories of this year draw us closer to you as we recognize Your presence in them. Thank You for the new lives birthed and those who graduated to heaven this year, through the mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
New Year’s Day Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for delivering us safely into 2026. We lay before You, all our hopes and dreams, resolutions, and goals, may they reflect Your will for our lives and be fulfilled in Your perfect time. We pray for Your protection for ourselves, our families, our nation, and Your Church. Guide and grow us daily, that in all our thoughts, words, and deeds we may bring glory to Your great name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
I also ask you to keep our upcoming events in January, in your prayers. We will host the Life Forum: Thinking Biblically about Bioethics, a Prayer Service, and the bus to the March for Life, January 22-23, at the Falls Church Anglican Church, in Virginia. We are also promoting the annual Sanctity of Life Sunday, which has been renamed Life Sunday, and churches can observe it on either January 18th or 25th. We have even created a special video to honor the Gift of Life! Learn more about both here: www.AnglicansForLife.org/LifeForum or www.AnglicansForLife.org/LifeSunday.
Please pray for...
Mild weather for the March for Life, NO snow or rain! That many people would attend the Bioethics teachings as well as the worship service and March for Life. For the AFL Staff to stay healthy and able to take care of all the details associated with everything being done under the banner of AFL!
For many churches to observe Life Sunday and show the Gift of Life video. That the video would impact every viewer’s heart and inspire them to get involved in upholding the sacredness of life. Also, for any woman who may be considering an abortion to recognize the beauty and value of the life growing in her womb.
Please ask the Lord to bring a new “Social Media/Content Creator” employee to work for AFL. (Given the holidays, we pulled the help-wanted ads on this until February.)
Your prayers are truly appreciated and being answered by God to protect life. Thank you and Blessings in 2026!
